Riverstone United Christian Academy (RUCA) is currently searching for a self-motivated and passionate history teacher for the current 2026-27 school year. This position is for teaching grades 9-12 and is open immediately.

If you have a passion for social studies, a heart for teaching, and a life dedicated to Christ, we'd love to interview you for this position. We want our students to be supported both academically and spiritually every day, and we know that requires talented individuals who are strong teachers and disciples of Christ. RUCA holds a strong culture through its academic and spiritual principles that we expect our staff to adopt and add to. Therefore, we're looking for self-motivated teachers who take ownership of their work and model that process for students.

Your Opportunity

RUCA just opened its doors in 2021, so you have the unique and valuable opportunity to shape the History Department from its roots. Using rigorous and engaging curriculum, you will be expected to adapt and deliver lessons to best suit your students. We will value your feedback on how to best deliver social studies content.

Job responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

• Deliver highly effective lessons to Grades 9-12 that are suited to your student needs and learning styles
• Providing timely and relevant feedback on student work
• Coaching students based on feedback to drive student achievement
• Adopting rigor/relevance principles by looking to provide a real-world purpose to your social studies lessons
• Adopting an active learning policy that pushes students to engage in their learning, including modeling what that looks like
• Being solutions-minded as the staff collaborates to best educate students
• Communicate with parents and students as we all aim for high student achievement together

A qualified candidate should have:

• A passion for their content area
• Creative methods to deliver lessons and assess progress
• Effective classroom management skills, including preferred practices regarding positive and negative classroom behaviors
• An eye for using data to identify and solve problems
• Implement inclusive education practices for students with learning differences
• A clear idea of an effective lesson structure, including what elements of a lesson plan would be crucial for high student achievement/engagement
• A bachelor's and/or master's degree in education, their content area, or a related area
